Korean turtle ship

Geobukseon, invented by Admiral Yi in 1592, is the world's first ironclad ship. It is said that his subordinate commander Na Dae-yong play a major role in building the ship as a dopyeonsu(head carpenter). Geobukseon, which could accomodate a crew of 130 to 150, had two stories inside: some fo them can row it with oars and put loads on board in the first; others can fire guns and arrows at the enemy in the second. Its roof was covered with a great number of iron spikes to prevent the enemy from boarding. Sixteen oars and two sails were equipped for good mobility(about 11 knots per hour). There were two main gates, each in the front and the rear, along with four small emergency gates built on the top. Smoke could be emitted for a smoke screen to disorder the enemy from the dragon-shaped front part(mouth) of the ship.
HMS Racehorse

The HMS Racehorse is a scale model reproduction of a ketch strengthened by the British for Arctic exploration which also had the ability to withstand the pressures of large mounted mortars and were referred to as "Bomb vessels", the Racehorse together with similar vessels was used during the wars with Russia. Nelson served as midshipman on a similar ship to this model.

Dutch Naval Gunboat

This Dutch Naval gun boat took part in the bombardment of Antwerp against the Belgian insurgents.
The captain G. Van Speyk refused to surrender himself or his ship he blew her, together with the crew, from the water on February 5th. 1831. After this tragic event similar vessels were used in 1833
Armed launch 1803

This model is an exact reproduction of a 10 meters long armed launch, which was used by the different navies during the 19th century.
These launches were armed with naval guns of different calibre and type; in the bow section a cannon or carronade was installed while in the stern two more light, small cannons were placed to be aimed by hand.
Usually, these boats were employed in coastal patrols or in escort services but, also demonstrated their wartime capacity in surprise actions attacking craft in difficulty or anchored or at roadstead. Due to their remarkable manoeuvrability, they were also in great numbers employed during landing actions, preceeding the main fleet which moved slower and was more vulnerable.
The bow cannon, placed on a wooden structure, attached to the first benches, slid back and forth, recoiling on two slits made on the two carrying guides and was manoeuvred by two forward and aft placed tackles. The marksman occupied himself to raise the cannon while the helmsman was responsible to align the bow at the target.
Mast and sail during the surprise actions were lowered on the benches to proceed and use the oars and to delay
Chinese Pirate Junk

Typical Chinese boat, generally used in the Oriental seas as a cargo boat.
The last thing a clipper ship, loaded with tea and spices, wanted to see was a Chinese Pirate Junk bristling with cannons coming his way. Junks such as this dotted the rivers and harbors of China and Hong Kong, and it was impossible to tell whether they belonged to merchants or pirates until it was too late
HMS Shine

The HMS Shine is a superb model of an English cutter built in 1712 at the Bermuda shipyards. The second mast was a later addition to increase sail power and speed up the commercial connections with the East Indies.
